Matangi Island
The following information is designed to assist you in preparations
for coming to Matangi.

Bure Diagrams

Dress
The resort is very informal and relaxed. Dress is casual.
When visiting a village ladies are requested to dress appropriately
( cover arms and legs) Depending on the time of year, a light
jumper or sweater may be required when dining outside in the
evenings or whilst on the boat directly after diving. A complimentary
Laundry services is offered - so no need to pack too much!.
Medicines
and Cosmetic Items
The island has a small gift shop where some medical and
cosmetic items may be purchased Remember that one of the beauties
of Matangi island is that it is off the beaten tourist track
but this also means that it is some distance away from a hospital.
This is of no case for concern in the case of emergencies
as air transport is available but guests should ensure that
they have stock of their own medication at hand.
Divers should remember that coral cuts are always a possibility
when diving on reefs and may wish to bring antibiotics and
antibiotic cream to prevent the risk of infection. With the
moisture and humidity it is also advisable to pack aquaear
and ear anti-fungal drops. Sudafed is also worthwhile bringing.
If you are prone to being seasick, pack some seasick tablets
as well.
As
with all tropical locations, the sun can be extremely hot
and sun protection lotion should be worn.
All bures are provided with insect repellant ,but you may
wish to bring your own personal protection. All windows are
screened and the beds have mosquito nets.
Electricity
All
bures have power points in each room and take the standard
3 pin plug as found in Australia and New Zealand. The resort
operates their own generator 24 hours a day. The power is
240v which again is different from the USA where they use
110v You are advised to bring plug adaptors and converters
if you are traveling from the USA..
Cameras and Videos
Remember to bring all your batteries, film and recharging
equipment for your holiday. The underwater scenery is fantastic,
so even if you do not own an underwater camera or housing
it is well worth bringing an underwater disposable camera.
Divers
A 3mm wetsuit is excellent for the warm water conditions
and you may choose to bring all your equipment or hire it
on the island. After each dive, your gear is washed for you
and dried ready for your next dive.
